Decide what level of Ecomation you would like, from the basic Alarm controlling the hot water & heating through to all lights, loads and devices controlled with fuzzy logic programming.

Create a list of all the features you would like from the Ecomation features list above, then make a schedule of all the lights, loads and devices that need connection or control. For example:

D3 Bathroom Lights (dimmed)
R3 Bathroom Mirror
R4 Bathroom Fan

RS232 Home Theatre Processor
IR1 Bluray Player
IR2 Sat Decoder
IR3 IPOD

Now you have a count of how many dimmed, relay, IR and RS232 connections you need, you can select the right Ecomation control system using the chart here.
